About me
Until I was 6 I lived in Colorado. After a summer in Ohio, we moved to California. For the first five and a half months of fourth grade my family was in Kyiv, Ukraine. After that we returned to California, only to leave for the 2009-2010 school year in Princeton, NJ. Since then, my whole family (except me -- I was in Colorado for the last school year) has stayed in California. Because we've moved so much I really enjoy travel. I really want to go back to Ukraine someday to see the people I met and places I visited again.
The picture below is of Андріївський узвіз (Andryivsky Uzviv), or Andrew's Descent. The street is lined with vendors selling everything from food to matryoshka dolls (nesting dolls) to souvenir shirts. The church you can see is St. Andrew's Church, now a museum. Visiting Andryivsky Uzviv and St. Andrew's Church is one of my most vivid memories of the time my family spent in Ukraine.

Last year, when I lived in Colorado, I participated in an awesome program for juniors and seniors in high school. It involves about forty days total of backpacking, rock climbing, skiing, etc. throughout the year split into three ten day trips and two five day trips (the winter trips are shorter). The year ended with an amazing 8 day backpacking trip (two days were driving) in the Grand Canyon. This trip was primarily led by the students, working in teams of two, though the adults had the final say. I absolutely loved this experience and I wish I could do it all over again.
Finally, I guess I'll tell you about what I want to do in the future. I want to go to college and then graduate school to get the degrees I need to become a clinical psychologist (specifically for children and teenagers). I want to do this because one of my family members is dealing with severe depression and I hate seeing it tear them apart. I want to help but I'm not sure how, so I plan to learn and then help as many people struggling with this as I can.
